Welcome to ECHO: Educational, Charitable and Humanitarian Organization

With an objective to continuously improving education and social status of Bangladesh and other third world countries, ECHO has dedicated itself to a new dimension of extending help to the under-privileged community. This objective is geared to a direction – where your donation is utilized in bringing health care and medical treatment to the poor by upgrading health care equipment and by bringing health care education to health workers and the community, --- where your contribution is used to provide skill development training to the poor and socially disadvantaged youth and women, and --- where your money is invested in improving self-reliance of poor community by providing alternate livelihood options and income generating activities.

With no overhead cost, ECHO has already set an example in Bangladesh through health training and education, computer literacy program, engineering trade training, and sustainable income generating activities

What we did so far

Established in 2003 as a non-profit, charitable organization, ECHO has been undertaking Educational, Skill development, Health care and Orphanage projects.

In the last eight years we have successfully completed projects worth of $750,000USD. 2010 was a very productive year for ECHO.

We undertook projects worth $150,000USD in the areas of education, skills development, healthcare, and emergency relief

. In education, ECHO provided scholarships to 250 high school, college, and university students for various areas of study, including medicine, engineering, and agriculture. While all of these students are extremely bright, they are so poor that they would have been unable to continue their education without the scholarships provided by ECHO.

 By focusing on Skills development and employment as a core area of ECHO's poverty alleviation program in Bangladesh our donors have made immediate and positive financial impact in the lives of thousands of poverty stricken individuals. In 2010 ECHO provided skills training in computer, electrical, and mobile servicing, dressmaking, driving, refrigeration, and knitting to 946 students in Dhaka, Chittagong, Rangpur, and Jessore. These skills are very important for a developing country like Bangladesh.

 Under healthcare, ECHO established a Satellite Health Center for mothers and children in Mirpur, Dhaka, which provided medical treatment and medicine to 9,000 people. This center is located in the poorest neighborhood of Dhaka.

 ECHO is also pleased to collaborate with the GiveLight Foundation to establish an orphanage for 50 girls in the outskirts of Dhaka. This orphanage will have many facilities, including a school. The architectural design of the orphanage is almost complete and ground-breaking has been finished.

 One of our major goals for the upcoming year is to establish ECHO-Bangladesh. We have already initiated ECHO registration in Bangladesh. Through this organization, we hope to ensure smooth and effective planning and management of all of our projects.

 Last but not least, ECHO is proud to have the involvement of a large number of students and young professionals through the use of social media this year. Be sure to join our Facebook Fan and Facebook causes page, as well as visit Echo Blog, to keep up with all of ECHO’s activities. These social media tools have been essential in increasing awareness about the hardships of others in developing countries around the world.
